I need a skin pick-me-up

Q. My skin looks a little dull and grey. Can you recommend any products that will help me look radiant on my big day?

A. Sarah Brock says: There is an amazing range of products which I have recommended to many brides, and seen great results from. It comes from skincare brand Comfort Zone and comprises four products: Absolute Pearl Corrector, which reduces and prevents dark spots and acne scars; Absolute Pearl Cream SPF12, an anti-oxidant moisturiser; Absolute Pearl Mask, which smooths and oxygenates skin; and Absolute Pearl Light Concentrate which aims to illuminate and hydrate the skin and also makes a fabulous base for foundation.
Use these products together or individually and they're sure to give your skin the boost you're after, leaving it smooth and radiant for the big day.
Call 01827 280 080 to find your nearest Comfort Zone salon, or visit www.comfortzone.it

Best for black skin

Q. I have a black skin tone which is always oily. I'd like some advice on which products to use on my big day to help improve its appearance.
As I'm having a summer wedding I don't want to shine in all the photos!

A. Sarah Brock says: Chanel has a skincare range which delivers amazing results for oily skin, it's called Pureté Idêale. One of my favourite products is a serum called Intense Refining Skin Complex. It's rich in witch hazel extract and salicylic acid and has a smoothing and purifying effect with a long-lasting action that helps tighten pores. My other favourite - which can be applied over the serum - is T-Mat shine control lotion. This helps reduce shine during the day, and will prevent your bridal make-up from sliding off. You can find out more about Chanel skincare at www.boots.com

Red alert!

Q. I have a fair complexion with skin that flushes, and stays looking flushed. Yellow toned foundations work well for me but I hate having to use a heavy base to disguise the redness. Can you recommend a product that will give me a good coverage but has a lighter appearance?

A. Sarah Brock says: One fabulous foundation is the Diorskin Forever Compact, priced £33 (try Boots and House of Fraser). The nice thing about compacts is that you can apply a thin layer all over your face in the morning and then add a little more on areas that fl ush as and when you need to.
Another idea is to treat your skin with a product which can help reduce any red areas. Clinique does an amazing kit called Redness Solutions Redness Regime. It's a box set with a four-week supply of products that reduces the appearance of visible and persistent redness. Priced £38, buy it online by visiting www.clinique.co.uk

I'm after a flawless finish

Q. I have an Asian skin tone which I want to look flawless in my wedding photos. How can I find the perfect foundation to achieve this?

A. Sarah Brock says: As most Asian skin tones can be oily it's so important to look after your skin in the run-up to the big day, to avoid blemishes. My top tip is to have a regular course of facials before the wedding and maintain a good skincare regime.
When it comes to foundation, the biggest problem you may face is finding one that isn't too yellow or 'ashy', which will make you look grey. To find the perfect shade always test it on your jawline, not your hand. Try Daniel Sandler's Super Mineral Make-up - with 12 shades to choose from, there?s sure to be something for you.

Glowing Bride

Q. I've been told not to have a facial the week before my wedding, just in case my skin reacts badly. Is there anything I can do instead to make my skin glow?

A. Sarah Brock says: The advice you've been given is correct. I always tell brides to avoid facials too near to their big day in case the skin reacts, for example with a breakout of spots. There is, however, a fabulous product by Nude Skincare called the Miracle Mask, which gives amazing results. You can use it twice a week right up to the big day as well as on the morning itself. I think it gives skin a beautiful radiance and the best part about it is that it only takes five minutes to use - ideal for busy brides-to-be. It costs around £37 and you can buy it online at
www.nudeskincare.com

English Rose

Q. I have very sensitive skin and often have bright red patches on my cheeks and nose. I'm worried about the redness showing up in my wedding photos, do you know any products that would help?

A. Sarah Brock says: The biggest mistake that ladies make when they have an imperfection they want to cover up is to use a thick foundation. This simply looks heavy and can make the skin look older. I would suggest that you use a primer all over the face, followed by a sheer foundation to even the skin tone. Next take a thicker concealer (not a greasy one as this will slide off your face during the day) and gently pat the concealer on the cheek and nose area until you have covered the redness.
Try Daniel Sandler Camo Cover, £9.50 (www.beautique.com) and finish by applying a loose powder to set the look.

Teary Eyed

Q. I know I'm going to be emotional on my wedding day and I'm worried that my eye make-up will run. Can you offer any tips on how to avoid this?

A. Sarah Brock says: A. Sarah says: Firstly, waterproof mascara is a must. If you expect tears on the day it is also a good idea to leave the under-eye area make-up free. For example, don't use eye shadow or eye-liner under the eye but put colour on the upper lid instead. I'd also recommend using a shadow liner or a gel liner, as these have more staying power than a regular eye-liner pencil. And remember, if you do cry, don't rub your eyes! Gently catch or dab tears with a tissue and your make-up should stay put.

Perfect Pout

Q. I have fine lines around my mouth and would love to improve the look of them before my wedding. The big day is in six months, can you recommend an effective treatment?

A. Sarah Brock says: A favourite facial of many celebrities is OXYJet Star. Look for a salon in your area that offers this treatment and ask for the OXYJet Star maxi lip treatment, which targets the lines around your mouth to create a perfect pout for your wedding day.

Think Pink

Q. My bridal gown is white and my bridesmaids' dresses are pink. Which make-up colours do you think would best complement my colour scheme?

A. Sarah Brock says: Firstly, don't think that as your bridesmaids are wearing pink that all of your make-up needs to be the same. Natural tones on the eyes, in taupes and browns, look great and you can then add a pretty pink that suits your colourings on the apples of your cheeks and on your lips to give a beautiful yet subtle wedding look.
