Va-va volume
Q. My long hair is very fine and while I would like to keep the length for my wedding, I also want greater volume. How can I achieve this?
A. Luci Foreman says: It can be tricky to create significant volume on fine hair so, for a quick fix, you may like to consider using a hairpiece on the big day. This will give you instant volume and your real tresses can be worked around it to create a really natural-looking style. I would suggest that you book a trial with your regular hairdresser six to eight weeks before the wedding date. Take along photographs of styles you like and the two of you can decide what looks best, and what is achievable. |

Seasonal Style
Q. I'm getting married at Christmas in a classic venue and would love an elegant hairstyle to refl ect the feel of the day. Can you suggest any bridal hair dos for me?
A. Luci Foreman says: Depending on your chosen colour scheme, I would keep your hair very simple and chic. A classic chignon is incredibly elegant and won't appear dated when you look back on your wedding photos in years to come. This kind of style can be embellished easily too, to complement your gown. Try adding some diamanté, crystal or pearl hair pins to finish the style. |

Contemporary curls
Q. I have three bridesmaids for my forthcoming wedding, all with mid-length hair. We want everyone to wear their hair down, in a different style to their everyday look, but we're not keen on ringlets. What would you suggest?
A. Luci Foreman says: The new look that's replacing ringlets in the world of weddings is waves created with GHD straighteners. This method gives a much softer, and therefore more modern, curl. Your bridesmaids could have their hair styled in this way and wear it on one side, creating a glam cascade of curls. You could also buy accessories to match your colour scheme or theme, such as slides, feathers or fresh flowers. |

Help! My hair needs a boost
Q. In the winter my hair looks dull, drab and lifeless. How can I reignite the colour without going for a drastic change before my big day?
A. Luci Foreman says: Golden blonde and caramel highlights are ideal for lifting dull looking hair. It doesn't drastically change your colour, but will add depth and tone. To protect the colour use Kérastase shampoos, such as Bain Mirror and conditioner Lait Chroma Reflect, which will give locks extra shine too. |

Style of the Times
Q. I'm looking for a new hairstyle for my big day but have no idea what to go for. My hair falls just past my shoulders. Do you have any ideas?
A. Luci Foreman says: The new style for autumn/winter is a longer version of the bob. The front section frames the face nicely while sitting just above the shoulders, while the back is a little bit shorter. This is a lovely style that suits all ages and face shapes. As it's that little bit longer than a traditional bob it will also suit curly hair. If you're willing to adapt your style it's sure to add a current edge to your bridal look and can be worn with accessories, such as a tiara or fascinator, or without. |

Cascading Curls
Q. My hair is really dry and curly. For my wedding day can you suggest any products to combat the dryness but make my curls look great?
A. Luci Foreman says: Kerastase have a fabulous range called Oleo-curl. I would recommend using the Bain Oleo-curl shampoo first, which is specifically designed to give suppleness and definition for dry, curly and rebellious hair. Secondly, use the Masque which leaves each curl nourished and beautifully defined. Thirdly, use the Texturise Mist spray which is a light oil-based mist for fine, curly hair. Finally you can use Texturise Crème to define curls and keep them supple and healthy looking. |

Fresh Style
Q. I'm having my hair styled on the day of my wedding - do you think it's best to wash my hair in the morning or the night before?
A. Luci Foreman says: If you're having your hair up I would recommend that you wash your hair the night before the big day as it gives the hair more grip. Freshly washed hair tends to be soft and flyaway which can make an up-do difficult to create. If you have decided to wear your hair down though, washing it on the morning of your wedding is fine as you can gain more volume and vitality when it is clean. Another tip is to remind your stylist not to use lots of hairspray as this can weigh the hair down and it's nice to see the hair move and sit naturally rather than in a frozen style. |
